Mechanical Development Engineer & Sr. Instrumentation Design Engineer

Company Profile
Keit is a young and dynamic company bringing a new chemical analysis technology to market.  Our products are infrared spectrometers suitable for the harsh process conditions found in manufacturing industries such as petrochemical, chemical, bio-renewables and pharmaceuticals.

The innovative spectrometers comprise of an optical engine coupled to a variety of immersion probes made from chemically inert materials such as Hastelloy, FFKM and diamond.    Keit supplies fully engineered solutions to many high-profile companies around the world.

Keit is experiencing a high demand for its product range and needs to increase the capability of the product development team.  The team works with an agile mindset which means that you’ll get involved in a broad range of activities along with your primary responsibilities.

Role 1: Mechanical Development Engineer

For this role you will be particularly responsible for:

  • Design of pressure sealing assemblies e.g. to 40 Bar pressure, 200°C
  • Materials selection e.g. pH range 0 to +14
  • Producing manufacturing drawings
  • Solid modelling using SolidWorks
  • Structural analysis

Required Attributes

You will have formal training which may consist of:

  • Engineering apprenticeship and HND, or
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent

Desirable Experience

It would be great (but not necessary) if you have experience in these areas:

  • Design and build of pressure systems for the petrochemical industry
  • Six Sigma and lean manufacturing and design techniques
  • Design and build of optical systems

Ideally you have held roles in manufacturing and product development where you were designing pressure seals for the Petrochemical industry.


Role 2: Senior Instrumentation Design Engineer

The Role

The requirements of this role are likely to include::

  • Design of pressure sealing assemblies e.g. to 40 Bar pressure, 200°C
  • Demonstrating compliance with the Pressure Equipment Directive and ATEX
  • Materials selection e.g. pH range 0 to +14
  • Solid modelling, structural and thermal analysis and producing drawings using SolidWorks
  • Providing production support: Troubleshooting issues, designing fixtures and tests
  • Managing outsourced product development work

Required Attributes

  • First degree in Engineering or equivalent
  • Significant relevant industrial experience in the process industries: Petrochemical, Industrial gasses, Oil and Gas or Pharmaceuticals

Desirable Experience
It would be great if you:

  • Hold certification for lean Six Sigma
  • Have experience with optics and optomechanical design


Other Information

This position is based at the Keit offices in South Oxfordshire. A successful candidate must be authorised to work in the UK and local enough to work from the Keit office.
