UK-based Keit Spectrometers signs agreement with Swedish distributor, Greenhouse

Keit Greenhouse Distributor Agreement Signed

Expands sales and support of the IRmadillo into Pulp & Paper and Biofuel industries in Sweden and Norway

Keit is pleased to announce a signed distribution agreement with The Packaging Greenhouse AB (Greenhouse), an established provider of pulp and paper testing, engineering and training services based in Sweden. The agreement enables Greenhouse to support the sales of Keit’s IRmadillo FTIR spectrometer to the pulp and paper and biofuels industries in Sweden and Norway.

“We are looking forward to expanding into the pulp and paper industry as we know that the IRmadillo is an ideal instrument for providing real-time monitoring of the key process fluids” Dan Wood, CEO Keit, commented. He continued “What makes it additionally interesting is that these producers are expanding into biofuel production as they use the high-lignin wastes from their traditional process as feedstocks for use in novel bio-processes. We have already proven how effective the IRmadillo is at measuring both the hydrolysis and fermentation phases of multiple bio processes — so the combination of those with the traditional pulp and paper processes is very exciting”.

Dan continued, “Greenhouse is the perfect partner for this. They know the manufacturing processes with a strong history and tradition of forestry-related business in Sweden and Norway.  In addition, Keit’s technology happens to arrive just at the right time with the recent push by the Swedish government to make industry smarter, digitalised, and resource efficient through innovation and advanced technology. The IRmadillo was made for this”.

Anders Österberg, CEO, Greenhouse, stated “We look forward to helping Scandinavian industry work smarter – specifically in the pulp and paper industry where there is an increased awareness and desire for process optimisation through digitalisation”. Håkan Envall, Business Development, Greenhouse, added “The technology of the IRmadillo fits into a definite trend for the collection of continuous information during a production process – to go from gathering information every several hours to every minute clearly provides better control of the process and improves profitability which is essential in today’s competitive global market”. He concluded “The agreement with Keit is a natural and strong partnership with several clients in Sweden and Norway already eager to see the IRmadillo improve their process analysis”.

A Profile in Confidence: Keit in the Thames Valley Business Barometer

Keit was profiled as one of the regional business highlights in the January 2019 Thames Valley Business Barometer. In the profile, Dan Wood, Keit CEO, shared his views on Keit’s performance, the key challenges, and his opinion on the current economic-political conditions and their impact on the company.

Rooted in Oxfordshire, on the Harwell Campus

Dan Wood commented in the profile that he has a positive outlook on current performance of the company noting a ramping up of sales and expanded operations on the Harwell Campus. Keit began with a space technology concept through the European Space Agency Business Innovation Centre (ESA BIC) on the Harwell Campus in Oxfordshire, England and has continued to grow both in performance and manufacturing space. Now having launched a commercialised product, the IRmadillo FTIR spectrometer, Keit has flourished through the support of technology investors and access to world-class development facilities.

Business Outlook for the Future

Dan also stated he was confident in business prospects for the near future despite the uncertainty of the looming Brexit decisions, unlike the sentiment of surveyed businesses who reported a slight drop in confidence since the middle of last year. Despite potential hurdles, part of Keit’s confidence stems from a successful exporting strategy to key target markets in North America and Europe (with opportunities expanding into Japan, Australia and Scandinavia).

Advancement in Analytical Technology

One of the factors sustaining Keit in this season of economic uncertainty is the ability to innovate – to take a technology that originally applied to space exploration and apply it to solve industrial manufacturing challenges in sectors that have a need for improved analytical solutions and are faced with unsatisfying alternatives.

The IRmadillo has been developed to be a real-time process analyser to monitor chemical reactions in liquids – from differentiation of multiple sugars, to determining alcohol and acid concentrations in complex manufacturing processes where current technologies struggle. Biofuel, Oil & Gas, Chemical, Petrochemical, Pharmaceutical, and Food&Beverage industries rely upon instrumentation to monitor their production processes and to date are faced with limited options. Keit continues to differentiate itself with innovation.

About the Thames Valley Business Barometer

The Thames Valley Business Barometer summarises the results of a twice-yearly survey focused on economic confidence and corporate performance for the Thames Valley (Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Middlesex) – widely recognised as one of the top economic regions in Britain outside of London, particularly due to the technology sector. In addition, the issues include regional business profiles, a roundtable business discussion and highlights a current business trend.   The January 2019 issue includes the topic of cybersecurity. Read the January 2019 issue, or just Dan Wood’s interview on Page 9 of the report.

Keit and Quantum Analytics Sign Distributor Agreement for Sale of the IRmadillo to Fine & Petrochemical Industries in the United States

Keit Quantum distributor USA Petrochemical

UK-based Keit Spectrometers selects established analytical instrumentation distributor to Fine and Petrochemical Industries in the USA

Keit is delighted to announce a signed distribution agreement with Quantum Analytics (Quantum), an established supplier of environmental and scientific instrumentation in the United States.  The agreement enables Quantum to support the sales of Keit’s rugged IRmadillo FTIR spectrometer in the US fine and petrochemical markets.

Dan Wood, CEO, Keit stated “Quantum was selected due to its established reputation for process monitoring instrumentation, the quality of support and knowledge of the target industries. From their Southern Technology Center in North Houston, Texas, Quantum will provide American manufacturers of petrochemical and fine chemical products access to Keit’s rugged FTIR spectrometer”. Dan continued “Our instrument fills a gap for the need to have a tough, mid-infrared process instrument that can provide continuous, real-time chemical analysis of liquids with dependability and stability”.

Dan Wood continued “The IRmadillo is completely different from other current systems and methodologies. Our novel optical design allows the instrument to be smaller, lighter, and more rugged — able to take on significant environmental vibration and movement – as opposed to current systems that are notoriously large, sensitive to plant operating conditions and require the use of fiber optic couplers or require remote sampling analysis.  The petrochemical industry, for example, has struggled with the best method to accurately monitor water content in glycols as part of a key production process. Our instrument can provide that real-time solution”.

“There is a growing need for better process monitoring and control in manufacturing environments,” said Scott Japczynski, executive vice president of Quantum Analytics. “We are very excited to be adding Keit’s IRmadillo’s spectroscopy product to our portfolio of enabling technologies that meet the demands of today’s evolving, automated manufacturing processes.”

Dan Wood concluded “Most importantly, our goal is to help people make decisions on the production floor through better process monitoring technology. While partnering with Quantum, we can help these companies improve quality, reduce scrap and improve facility utilization using a more practical, no-nonsense instrument”.
